I took my kids here for breakfast this morning. I had already been here a handful of times before, but it had been a while. My kids ordered pancakes with a side of ham (which ended up being peices of deli meat rolled up on their plate.) The pancakes are pretty big though for the adult order and there is just 1 pancake on the kids order - and it's shaped like mickey mouses head. I ordered the country griddle. It was supposed to be home fries (griddle potatoes), eggs, mushrooms, peppers, and onions in a pile on my plate. Since i don't eat eggs, I asked that the eggs be placed on the side (I was giving the eggs to my son). The cook messed up the order and when I had the food sent back, he came to the table and tried to check me with an attitude. So I explained to him again what he needed to do, and although he removed the eggs and placed them on the side, he still didn't get it right, but I could work with it at that point. I'm still going to give this place 3 stars. The waitress, Tammy, was extremely nice and understanding. I'm sure the cook cussed her out in the back, but she says she told him exactly what I wanted. He just couldn't figure out how he was going to pile this food on top of the potatoes without the eggs-whatever. I'll probably be back in the future and order something that doesn't need too much modifications.

This has become a favorite place for myself and my husband when we cannot figure out what to eat! The menu is pretty extensive. While we have tried a lot of different dishes, overall the quality and taste are good. We love their breakfasts, the French Toast is fabulous! They have amazing desserts at $5.95 for a huge slice that can easily feed 3 people :) My favorite.... Almond Joy! The service has always been prompt and friendly.

The whole table are famished after their full portions. Not a complaint from the table including kids.. Great service too!

I've been here several times for breakfast with my friends. As of late the quality has been slipping. As noted by the ~80 health score rating near the entrance. I decided to suck it up anyway for my friends. The pancakes were ... hard. Really, I do believe they were microwaved. The hashbrowns were not edible. I would normally say that because someone dropped a salt shaker in them, but these were just OLD potatoes. Nasty. Eggs were O.K., sausage links were pure fat and not in a good way, bacon was O.K. I sort of picked at my food. The place was practically empty yet it took FOREVER to get your order taken, your food, any type of refill, etc. I do believe the server/table ratio was 1 server to two tables. It was that empty. We all commented on the service. In short, I may have to nudge my friends into a different breakfast spot. In fact I'm already looking. I have no desire to eat here again.

We decided to come here while visiting and it had really good reviews, especially their desserts. We went on a Sunday morning. It was super busy and we waited over 20 min to be seated. The hostess was nice but the staff seemed unorganized. They were taking orders from people that were seated after us. Then the hostess finally came over and so we wouldn't have to wait so long we placed our order and the hostess took it since they seemed understaffed. Their breakfast was just alright. We went back in the evening to grab some dessert because of the raving reviews and they bragged so much about them on their menus. The cheesecake was good but the red velvet cheesecake was stale and tasted old. We called to see if we were able to exchange the dessert but the manager said, "no, because we ate some of it." So, instead we decided to head back to get it exchanged. They were not happy about it but we made our point and came away with a different piece of cake. It was alright. We came to the conclusion that they probably make them in the morning and sell them until they are gone. So we would recommend you get a piece from one that is not cut or looks like it still has a good amount Left. Overall the hostess was nice but I would not recommend it to anyone

Server was great. Fast and attentive. Food good and my oh my the desserts. Reasonable prices. Nothing fancy. Just good food at decent prices. Glad we dropped in for dinner. Girls are already asking to come back.

Really creative menu. Reasonably priced too. With the portion size was bigger but nice place for a quality meal.

The food is variable, often overcooked. The wait staff is not efficient or attentive. The desserts are great and the coffee is good. People should cage small children.

I often go here for Daddy-Daughter breakfasts and have never been disappointed. They cook all of the usual breakfast food to a good standard. The service has always been polite and prompt and it's never too busy. The great thing that they do is to make the kiddy pancakes look like Mickey Mouse. My daughter gets a kick out of it. They've also got a great cake selection. I always bring a slice home for dessert. The place is a little run down ... holes in some of the chairs and mangled menus so that costs them a star.

Great food, great service, full bar, 24/7 A much better choice then IHOP, Waffle House, or any breakfast diner spot in the area! One of the best Reuben sandwiches that I've ever had.. And yes I've been all over the country eating them! Key factors - thinly sliced corned beef (pulled apart with ease) - the sandwich was never soggy throughout entire meal - Russian dressing was on the side

I had the opportunity to eat here 2 nights in a row. The food was great and the service was fantastic. They have a very diverse menu something for everyone and desserts that'll knock your socks off :)

We lvoe this diner! Love that it is locally owned - not a chain. The food choices are huge and all that we have tried have been great. The staff is friendly. There is sometimes a wait for the food but that is far better than the rushed nasty delivery of most chains. Prices are reasonable. Try the Greek Lemon Chicken Soup! I am NOT a lemon fan but this soup is wonderful.

Everything you could want in a diner. Breakfast 24hrs, extensive menu and full bar. We had good service and the food was good. Our hotel (country inn) was right there and had a 10% off deal at the cafe. That sweetened an already good experience. It was just what we needed after a day at Stone Mtn park and hiking the trail to the top.

I have visited twice in the last month, both times I got the spinach omelette and it was terrific! My friend got a smoked turkey sandwich, my son got an emelette also. My friend said the turkey on his sandwich was less than fesh., We also got french toast, which was so delicous it was delicous and light , it could have been a dessert. Now its not the large servings that some diners are known for, they are similiar to waffle house servings. They have a large selection of restaraunt quality cakes and pies that are beautifully presented with 5 star quality. We got a slice to go, and we shared it as there was plenty. I suspect breakfast dishes, that must be prepared fresh are a safe bet, as there did not seem to be a lot of traffic for a saturday night. I will definitely go there again, as I am tired of Ihop, and WH late at night.

When I first walked into Metro Cafe Diner, I first noticed how clean the restaurant was, it was around 10pm so it was late. A very attractive woman sat us at our table. She told us that our waitress would be with us momentarily. The menus were tattered and slightly dirty. A waitress came by and took our drink orders, she told us about the items on the menu. then we placed out order.Food came out quickly. Later on in our meal a male walked by to ask us if we needed refils. Overall Great Sevice!!!! Food was nothing to brag about. All though the Oreo Cake is amazing!!! The woman who checked us out didnt say anything to us. She took the check, swiped the card and went back to doing what she was doing.

We usually love this place, as we are regulars. But tonight, a Sunday night, we were sat and then ignored for over five minutes. Finally a waiter came over and took our order, but he wasn't our waiter at all- he was just helping the bartender whose section we were sat in and who was ignoring us. Then, after being told of her mistake, she barely spoke to us, didn't apologize, and overall acted like she was going to get a bad tip anyway, so it didn't matter. But guess what, honey? We've both been in food service and wouldn't have done that- but since the assumption was made and we were treated so, now we WILL be tipping badly. watch out for the blond, female bartender, if you want GOOD service.

Great service, huge portions and great food for the price. I had gone to Stone Mountain and this place was close (about 2 miles I would guess). There was plenty of parking too. There was a large menu with breakfast all day (as expected for a diner) but they had lots of choices including some greek food too. I was too full to eat dessert but they looked great (so next time).

We just spent three days at the Stone Mtn GA area and ate at the Metro Diner for two evening meals. We can not praise this Diner enough...the food was prepared to perfection, the hosts and hostesses were very professional and patient with us changing our minds (there was 8 in our party). The food was served in a very timely manner. At our last meal there, my son-in-love, asked the owner/manager if they would consider building a diner in our town, Clarksville, TN. We would definately love to return there.

On my way to the Hobby Lobby in Stone Mountain the other day, I really wanted to stop at the Schlotzsky's in Tucker for lunch. But sadly, the establishment--home of the delicious vegetarian special pizza--has shut down. I was so deliriously starving that I dined at the most reputable-looking eatery in Hobby Lobby's vicinity: the MetroCafe Diner. Clearly, my reasoning skills were compromised from extreme hunger. While I waited forever for the waitress to make her way over to me to take my order, I listened to two women behind me loudly gossip about a friend who was involved in an extramarital affair, gossiping while crunching oily fries. After flipping through the multi-page menu, I decided to order a shrimp fajita wrap: shrimp, peppers, onions and cheese enveloped in a tortilla. The meal was scalding when it arrived--and too hot to eat for 15 minutes. Plus, when I reached the bottom of each tortilla half, I discovered a pool of shrimp juice that squirted out and down my sweater sleeve. I would've preferred for the stir-fried medley to be drained prior to tortilla insertion. I found the food to be so-so; the service, hungover and neglectful.

Amazing food and wonderful prices. We went recently for New Years Eve and the manager gave everyone champagne then toasted to each table. It was a wonderful experience and we frequent the diner. If you are in Stone Mountain, it's worth the try. All of our food has been amazing. We go there at least once a week or more. The previous comments are unfair to the true quality of Metro Cafe Diner.

We were staying out at Stone Mountain and schedule dictated a late dinner. Not many choices in this neck of the woods at a late hour so Metro Cafe Diner it was. It's a Diner. While they have a bulging menu, we decided on breakfast for dinner and the eggs, bacon, pancakes and coffee were all good. Prices were reasonable and Trey our server was prompt, courteous and efficient. Think Denny's/Perkins with a local twist. Full service bar available and lots of big screen TVs give the dining area we ate in an odd sports bar look. It's kind of confusing but not in a bad way, just different.

Came here to have dinner with my boyfriend and we both had to waited for at least 25 minutes before our orders arrived. The place was not even busy so I don't know why the wait was so long. In addition, my waitress did not come over to keep us update on anything. The food was just decent, so I'd probably would not come back due to the unbearable wait time.

So I've men here twice in the last 3 days after walking up Stone Mountain so I think I feel comfortable writing a review. I went for the first time on Friday. It's less than 10 minutes from the mountain so it's a convenient place to stop when you're done working out. I ordered the Philly cheese steak omelette and an omelette and awaffle the first time I went. The waffle was really really good. The omelette was ok but it lacked flavor. I tasted someone else's French toast and that was really good. My co worker said the grits are really good. The next time I went I had the waffle again with a side of egg whites scrambled with cheddar and some sausage. I was very happy with my choice. My friend had the cat fish and he tore it up. He let me taste and I was impressed my self. He really liked the grits too. I'm not much of a grits person but they must be good. The cost is cheap overall. Similar to Waffle House, maybe a little bit more. I'm sure I'll be back.

The food is pretty good, but most impressive is the deserts and the hours. The cake slice are huge, and most likely you'll eat one slice in multiple sessions. It is classic diner food with some extras thrown in there. The hours are amazing. When it's late and you need a snack or on the way in for the night and want something besides fast food, these are your guys.

Food is ok. Looks a lot prettier than it tastes. The scrambled eggs had a lot of milk added to them, they were mostly white with just a little yellow. The hash browns are horrible. Like someone else said a boiled potato mashed with a little green pepper mixed in; kind of tasteless. Waitress was attentive, but the lady with the heavy eye makeup working the counter with desserts completely ignored my daughter and looked over her and took the person's order behind her. Just as well, others in our party that had the cakes said they were dry.

  • Kiwi C.

We have happily eaten here for years and both service and food quality have slowly deteriorated. Tonight, we finally broke up. Medium rare steak was 50 shades of grey, the wings were so dry that I think the chicken died from dehydration and the gyro featured lamb jerky the texture of wood shavings. It's like they put the orders on to cook and went on break. Had we not been famished after a day at the park everything would have gone back to the kitchen. Server was slow with the beer and failed to send manager over to address complaints. I'll miss you Metro Diner, or at least I'll miss what you were.

Have eaten here several times. Last time was about a week ago. I ordered a chicken sandwich with onion rings. The chicken was very dry and the bread soggy. Onion rings full of grease. My friend had an omelet and she said it was good. I have had better meals and service when eating here in the past. Probably will not be returning until reviews get better.

I saw this place on the way to the hotel where I was staying and decided to stop. It was 10:30 PM and it seemed like the only place open where I could get a steak. The atmosphere is quite unique, like a mash up of Johnny Rockets-like neon lighting, menu somewhat like Waffle House, with enough flat screen TVs to almost double as a sports bar. They also serve beer and wine as well as dessert. I'm back this morning for an early breakfast and had an Alpine omelette. It was great!

  • Delisa K.

So, after climbing up and down stone mountain, the neon glow of the words "full bar" shown like a beacon in the night. My objective was to not remember what food I had ordered, but to my surprise it was really tasty, not too pricey and service was very good. The atmosphere is lively, exactly what you would expect from a place called Metro Diner. I will be back

Food was really good. Prices very reasonable, restaurant was clean and the menu was huge. Desserts on display when you walked in looked incredible! The service was AMAZING! Ask for Kim. Pleasant, polite, courteous, quick and efficient service wrapped up in a smile. I'll be back for sure!

The food here tends to be very consistent (better than IHOP) service friendly, and though they tend to be pretty busy during weekend days, the rest of the time I've never had to be wait to be seated. They don't have a lot of really healthy options unless you tweak their dishes a bit, but they've always been good sports when I do so.

Open 24/7!! This is my family's go-to spot for late night dinner and/or dessert! The Gyro Plate with the Greek salad is my number 1! Their tzatziki sauce seems home made is amazing!! The hummus and pita are good as well! Everything on their menu is pretty good for the most part, the gyro is just my personal favorite! Their cakes are so delicious! I can't really decide on a favorite! They give you such big slices, good luck on finishing a slice. They also have a full bar & have multiple tvs playing with sports / news. We have been here numerous times so the service has been a roller coaster of good & bad. The manager, he's our favorite "server" and he is top notch with his service! He always makes sure we are well taken care of. Google them and their menu will pop up!

Went there for Easter and ordered the calamari, which was ok... I also ordered a kids burger for $7 mind you, and certain circumstances came up so I had to leave my lunch early , not even 5 minutes after ordering I tried canceling my burger, and the waitress was incredibly rude saying that it's impossible to do that and I'm just gonna have to pay... She also kept ignoring us when we waved her down and she was just ridiculous.... I walked in thinking it was such a nice place and amazing environment but food is way to expensive for what they cook... Plus rude waiters with childish attitudes

I usually like to start out with the "good" (if there is any) in a review and then proceed to the "bad" and the "ugly" (if they apply). So now for the "good" about the Metro Café Diner; the hash browns were excellent and the sausage they put in my omelet was super, and the greens in my wife's salad were very fresh. Moving on... The "bad"; the service started out great but quickly went downhill when some friends or family of our server came in. She "poof" vanished from our side of the restaurant, we had to go up to the cashier to try and get our check when it was time to leave and just like magic our server reappeared - smart girl - she knew it was tip time. The "ugly"; where shall I start...There was no running water in the mens room (a fact that management was aware of when I complained), the carpet, bar area, and both bathrooms were absolutely FILTHY (makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like). I almost broke a tooth on the biscuit that I got with my omelet, it was old, hard and dry. The eggs were cooked to death, and one of the glasses that our iced tea came in had lipstick on it - gross, and...the place just plain smells bad. Draw a circle around Metro Café Diner, now it expand it out to cover about 5 miles. There are SO many great places to eat within that 5 mile circle that there is really no reason to go to Metro Café Diner unless you want to get an order of hash browns, sausage and salad greens - to go.

I would give the cake 5 STARS! Wow - what desserts! Would recommend. Nice employee of Stone Mountain Park recommended the Metro Café. Food was good, inexpensive, and plentiful. I had biscuits and gravy and the biscuits are HUGE. You can really eat just one. The absolute best part, however, was the DESSERTS. The desserts are directly in front of you when you enter and all look fabulous. I had the chocolate (I think it was called Death by Chocolate) cake and it was, without a doubt, the best chocolate cake I have ever eaten. There were 3 different layers - cake, fudge, and mousse and all were delicious. Absolutely the best.

Heading back to Atlanta decided to visit the Stone Mountain Monument and after checking in to the Comfort Inn came here for dinner. After we were seated we were greeted by our waitress Amber, a lovely young lass to take our order M' Lady had the Sautéed steak tips, mushrooms and onions in a burgundy wine sauce. Served over mashed taters, big and delicious. I went for the Chicken Parmigiana served with spaghetti marinara, again delicious and too much! If we lived here we could have another dinner out of what we had left over. Amber convinced us that we needed a slice of Death by Chocolate, seriously! Wonderful!

Went in on a Sunday to have Brunch with my Husband and it was pretty crowded which is expected, so we had to wait about 15 mins. After our wait we were seated and I ordered a short stack with home fries and sausages, my husband decided on their chicken and shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. Our drinks come after 5 Mins and our food 10 mins later. I wish I would have taken a picture of our food.... My pancakes looked like they almost forgot about them, they were dark brown and kinda hard, my home fries looked like they boiled a potato and then just smashed it up and added chopped onions and bell peppers to it. My husbands Alfredo sauce was so watery it looked more like soup. Oh! And they forgot to bring my sausage which was the only thing that I enjoyed about my breakfast! Our waitress was pretty nice, but our food was not good at all... We didn't even finish our meal. My husband and I gave been here a few times and the food has always been pretty good but this past visit.... I don't know.. Maybe because they were so busy. The cakes looked good but from a past experience I'll pass. Maybe we'll go back when they don't have much of a crowd.

Our go to spot. Open 24 hours, ample parking and delicious food. We LOVE their breakfast!!! French toast is amazing and cooked perfectly each time. Eggs on point and the omelets are wonderful. Service is always great and I leave with a smile. They also have lots of Greek specialties which is always a good thing. The menu contains everything you could possibly be in the mood for. The dessert case is TO DIE FOR and all the cakes and pies are fresh and very tasty. They even have a FULL bar!!! You can also get breakfast anytime. Definite plus! This is one of the very best spots in Georgia and I will continue to go back.

This place is lively and friendly. Their stuff is very on top of the service. The food tonight was sweet, warm and had good flavors. The atmosphere was busy, but everyone was treated equally. This place has 6 layer cakes and great cheese cake. Come eat your fill and take some home. They are always open, so the timing is perfect any day or night.

I ate there a few times. Service is random. It is as if the servers don't know what they are doing. I have to other diners before and this is different. It is not what you would expect. The food always came late and cold. The food is not memorable.

So I had some time to waste and was starving... this place was close by and looked to be a good mom n pop sorta place. First... be careful not to park directly across from the front entrance. There is a slight dip in the parking area that caught me off guard and I had a little issue when trying to leave! My car felt like it was stuck in mud! hehehe I walk in and there was a family of four admiring the beautiful dessert front. The sign said to wait to be seated. So I stood patiently waiting to be seated. Another family of four wallks in about five minutes after me, and they were helped immediately! What!?! Really!?! Major points lost! One of the servers walked up to me and said... are you dining in? I say 'yes'! She says, and they just skipped right over you! I am sorry, and she sat me in her section. Now, my server was great! Her name is Faten. Ask for her, she will treat you right! I ordered coffee and water with lemon... rarely do I find good coffee at any diner, and this was no exception. It was just eh... ok, drinkable but definetly only a one cup thing. I ordered two scrammbled eggs with cheese, bacon, homefries and one pancake. Everything lacked salt. I am not one to salt my food once served, but without it I couldn't eat this. The bacon was extremely greasy, but eatable. The homefries were yuck! The pancake was my only savings grace... it's kinda hard to mess that up. Go here if you must, but there are other options just down the road.

Great breakfast! Natasha was our server and was friendly and fast. The kids had pancakes and scrambled eggs and cleaned their plates! I had the Mediterranean omelet which was perfection. The home fries could have been a little crispier but had a good flavor. Will definitely be back !

The best Mediterranean food in town. Gyros, Spinach Pie, Geek Salads, etc. In addition a great selection of breakfast offerings, blue plate specials and good sandwiches. Good food 24 hours a day!

my first and last time eating here. I had the eggs Benedict with what tasted like a chicken bouillon base hollandaise sauce. Life is too short to eat bad food. we also ordered the biscuits with sausage gravy. no sausage and did not taste like any biscuit we ever had before.

Well I had a girlfriend get dirt in her salad here & I will swear there is a waitress here that looks like Katy Perry. Those two statements alone attest to the hit & miss nature of this place. The 50's style Greek Diner is cute but that's never enough to say "yes, I'm going to Metro Diner!". If I had to go out of my way I wouldn't be seeing this place but while I'm living in the area it's ok for now. So as "waitress Katy Perry" would sing "Metro Diner, your hot then your cold"

This was my second trip to the Metro Cafe Diner and I have to say that I still think it's pretty good. I went with a group and we were all easily accommodated at a nice corner booth. They serve breakfast all day but also have a good assortment of other foods, as well. I ordered breakfast for lunch because I love doing that. Eggs cooked properly? Check. Waffle tasted ok? Check. Homestyle potatoes cooked crispy as requested? Check. What more could I ask for? The server was very nice and the restaurant is clean. I will be back!

To start off, i might be a little harsh on metro diner. As far as the service it is great!, the staff are always courteous, and i had actually thought that this place was 5 stars, until i had their steamed veggies, and home fries. In all my years of eating at different breakfast places i have never had bad home fries until metro diner. They are awful! Their coffee is OK, their breakfast is good, etc, but their home fries taste awful!, Also, how can a place that makes delicious salmon mess up carrots? on two occasions now I've had hard carrots. When i order steamed vegetables as a side i expect the carrots to be nice and soft. Twice now they were raw though as a rock. Kind of ruins it, actually. I guess i could complain to the wait staff, but i don't like complaining and tell myself i just won't order the home fries, or carrots again, but why should i deprive myself? If the owner of metro cafe diner reads this, please make sure you cook your veggies properly, and look up a recipe for home fries on the web. Your home fries suck! Beside that their dinners are good, I've had two different types of salmon, and it has always been good. Their salads are good, etc. I forgot to mention that no matter how full the place is, you always get seated quickly! I have never seen a restaurant tend to their customers like the wait staff does here. They get 5 stars for sure when it comes to their attentiveness! Things that i've had over time that do taste good: The salmon dinner plates - sans the undercooked carrots The chicken salad sandwich (and order the onion rings, they are awesome an extra buck, though) the gyros, the greek salad, the spinach dip with tortila chips, and the draft beer is pretty good, and decently priced.

  • Jennifer I.

Freaking amazing. Their gyro is the best gyro I've ever had in my entire life, and the french fries are awesome. The menu is HUGE, and they are always very friendly and attentive to the needs of customers. I can't say enough good things about this place. I love it.

    (5)
  • Nikki B.

Service was almost too friendly. Our waitress actually sat down in the booth at 2 other tables. My salmon was ok, I liked the seasoning but it was obviously recently removed from a plastic vacuum sealed bag and the mixed veggies the waitress raved about, were good but bland and because the pieces were cut into random chunks, some were mushy & some were not very done. My boyfriend's "popcorn" shrimp were more like full size fried shrimp, he prefers the bite sized pieces, you know "popcorn" sized. Steak fries are listed randomly on the menu, but they don't have them. They have a full bar, and the cakes looked amazing, but they also looked exactly the same as the ones we get at Marietta Diner and their food is way better.

Went here with the family one night for dinner, waiter was excellent, food not so much. We all sat around picking at our plates it was the most awkward feeling ever. My 6 yr old ordered spagetti (and hes not a picky eater) he didn't like it, my daughters burger was burned, my husbands gyro was dry, my food was okay but seemed to taste better the next day. My other daughters hotdog was burned! How do you mess up a hot dog?? We didn't have the heart to complain because the whole bill would have been free! Everyone hated the food.

their food is ok..tried meatloaf sandwich, gyro, nachos, soups. just ok.. Their cakes on the other hand is delicious. not crazy over priced like some places I know but usually with good variety to choose from. Their staff is nice..never had a issue with them, food just needs to be better

Love love love metro cafe. Amazing food. Huge portions and cheap prices. Open 24 hours. They have every kind of food you can imagine on the menu. As well as a full bar and cakes and pies on display up front. They are owned by a really nice family! (Possibly greek) The owner almost always serves us. I absolutely recommend this place!!

WTH happened here?? I use to come often since I live nearby and being around indecisive people who craved everything from pancakes, belgian waffles to steaks and nachos. So where do you get all that? Well, it USED to be at metro City Diner. Came back for a late dinner with the SO because he remembered the huge, delicious cakes and I remembered the huge, mouth watering meatloaf sandwich. The hostess seated us right away (but the place is NEVER crowded). In fact, there were 2 other tables there who looked as if they had already finished their meal hours ago and were just lounging around. SO got: - chicken noodle soup - chicken supreme nachos I got: - lemon chicken soup - meatloaf sandwich with the sauteed veggies Soup came out and it was decent. SO LOVED his soup especially the fact that they use angel hair noodles instead of the thicker, usual noodles. In fact, he slurped it down before I even got half way done with my soup. The lemon chicken soup is very lemony and tart! This time, it was a bit too tart. The entrees came out but SO didn't like the fact that you have to assemble your own nachos (his quote "Isn't this what I'm paying the kitchen to do?"). On the other hand, it's a nice aspect of customizing your own plate. The nacho chips had a nice crunch to it and the chicken pieces were pretty big, although very sparse. I did NOT like the melted cheese they again sparingly, drizzled on top. It tasted worse then the cheese they give you at the movie theater. The guacamole seriously was something they squeezed out of a bottle and did not look appetizing at all. My meatloaf sandwich was the worst! It had no flavor, the meat was sliced deli thin (whoever heart of deli cut meatloaf before???) and was so small that I had to keep lifting up the bread and making sure that I pushed the meatloaf closer to the edge so I wouldn't just take a bite of bread and, well, bread! My side of sauteed vegetables were swimming in a vat of butter. I ended up fishing each piece out and draining it on some napkins before eating it. I was completely put off by this. The waitress was not great either. My water needed a refill several times and she only refilled it once. She also did not wait until we finished telling her what we needed, instead, she would turn around and leave to grab the first thing we said (napkins) and then huff when we asked her for yet another thing we needed when she returned. I seriously almost lost my cool with her, but I figured it would be a waste of time even pointing it out to her. SO was happy because our total was about $30, not bad considering we had 2 soups, 2 entrees, 2 beers, substituted a side and took home a huge slice of cake. I won't say we won't be back, but if we do, i'm sticking to the breakfast menu.

Been here twice. Service was slow, but both times we went on a Sunday early afternoon. Food was decent. Wait staff is not very attentive. Ambience is fun; real diner feel. They seem to have a problem with flies. People all over the diner were swatting them away. Good value, okay food, probably won't be returning.

The only reason to go to Metro is for their cake selections (brought in by a pro cake bakery and sold for $6+ a slice) and the fact that they're 24 hours. You don't go for the food. This is the kind of place that serves all types of food that goes straight from the freezer to the fryer. If you want breakfast, Waffle House (sadly) can do it better and is located behind the Metro on Rockbridge. Skip tje 'home fries' and just order french fries. They're the same thing here, just cut differently. Rumor has it that they give you free birthday cake, but since I was charged for my slice when hubby and I went there for a quick birthday dinner (my birthday is a major holiday, so we did the 'nice' dinner on a different day), I can't confirm that. Service quality depends on the server you get. Been going here for years, and the service runs the gamut of crabby to huggy friendly. The hostesses let their minimal power in life go to their heads and can be snotty, as in deliberately ignoring you when you walk up to their stand. Not really sure why, but avoid them if you can and catch a server's eye instead to be seated. The manager is friendly, but he doesn't do that annoying act of stopping at your table to see how you're doing.

I've only been here once, but the time I came it was cool. It was very laid back. The staff was nice and the food was good. They have a wide array of cakes and they also have a bar. I also like the fact they are 24/7

I have been passing this place for a while and we finally went last weekend. I tried the gyro platter and it was okay. Hubs had a steak that he said was pretty good...too much fat but Meh, it passed. Kiddo had a club sandwich that was large enough to feed all three of us with a bunch of fries. The service was pretty decent...not one complaint there. When we walked in I saw the dessert cooler first and was taken away by the variety of cakes and pies! I am not a huge sweet eater but that display had my mouth watering. I got a huge slice of Raspberry and White Chocolate cake that was at least 7 inches high...it was a hunk of cake...one taste and I was DONE...in a good way!!! It was moist, not too sweet, light and super duper fresh. I didn't eat it there, it was to take home but it was so pretty and looked so delish I had to have a taste. Hubs even commented on how good it was when he had a bite. He got a slice of cheesecake to go and said it was very good and fresh the next day! I will go back and check out more on the menu and post again.

I took my family here for some quality time and didn't know that I would have to end up going into "Bone-Quisha" mode on of the waitress. OMG the service was AWFUL! Ok so let's rewind.... We walk in and immediately we are seated. I'm loving the feel of the restaurant - nice and cozy. Then "Wuanita" comes to the table (I don't remember her real name so I gave her a nickname of my own that I thought suited her lol) and gives us menus, takes our drink orders and walks away. We decide what we want and we wait 15 minutes for her to come back and take our order and deliver our drinks. Okay, I'm cool with that. We order 1 tuna melt with house fries, 1 meatloaf melt with French fries and one kids cheese burger with French fries. Let's review the food (and this has nothing to do with Wuanita, just an honest opinion). 1. The tuna melt was decent. The house fries were terrible. They were dry and over cooked. 2. The meatloaf melt was fine though one of my family members had to scrap off all the onions which made us wonder if they had any onions left after dumping them all of the melt 3. The hamburger was decent. The French fries were amazingly good. Ok, so back to the service. After Wuanita delivered our food we did not see her until the very end of our service after my mom waved her down (35-40mins later). Keep in mind, I was NOT happy with my house fries and waited on her to come back so that I could exchange them for regular fries. Anywho, my mom flags her down and she automatically assumes we're ready to go so she grabs two to go boxes and comes to the table. Ok hold up, usually a waitress comes to the table and at least asks you if you want dessert! Wuanita definitely didn't care. She came to the table and handed us to go boxes. I then politely said to her (though I was beyond irritated), "I didn't like the house fries. Is it possible to exchange them for regular fries?" Wuanita says, "Ok but next time don't wait until the end of service to say you don't like something." That's when I went into "Bone-Quisha" mode on her and told her that maybe if she would've came to the table to check on us I would have. Then she says, "Well you could've gotten somebody." Why did she say that? I'll wait. I told her it is HER job to serve the customers and I shouldn't have to get ANYBODY and I won't get ANYBODY! I could go on and on but the point is the service was terrible. Me and Wuanita kept arguing and I constantly had to keep checking this chick. I mean what kind of customer service is this? Then to add insult to injury, she finally brings the check ( finally because my mom ordered dessert - something she completely skipped over and didn't bother asking about when she took it upon herself to bring the boxes) and she deliberately tries to hand the check to my mother. Keep in mind it was ME who was treating the family. My mom didn't take it and I reached my hand out for her to give it to me and she instead sat it on the table, trying to be smart. So I had to check her again and this time I shut her down for the final time. I paid for the ticket, we left and this is one place we will not be returning to. I mean this chick almost made me lose my religion (Lol). Come here if you want a quiet dining experience with variety of items on the menu...but if you experience bad service from your server, eliminate all of the arguing and call the manager. That's what I should've done thinking about it in retrospect but I was raised to never let anyone disrespect me and things kind of snowballed. Bet she will think twice before treating and talking to customers any kind of way. Jannelle don't play that boo boo! *snaps fingers*

Easter Sunday and all the other restaurant choices where packed but for this place. The Yelp reviews indicated a mixed reaction to the offerings and service here so the Fiance and me decided to give Metro Cafe Diner a try for ourselves. Being that the place was scarcely occupied, we where seated immediately upon entering. The hostess was very friendly and walked us to a booth near the back, and with little wait time, our young server showed up and took our drink order. Our server was also very friendly but one could tell she was new to serving as she wasn't assertive in her confidence (she stammered often taking our order and needed several repetitions to get the order correct, and she was very meek in approaching our table for any servicing). She also showed little knowledge of the menu items but she did take the time to find correct answers to our menu browsing as well as keeping our drinks full and table cleared. With drinks placed and a small amount of time passing to answer our menu questions, the Fiance and me finally decided on our dinner choices; she would choose the "Healthnut" with added grilled chicken, and I decided to bite-the-bullet and give the highly menu touted, "Metro Cafe Diner" ribs (full slab) a shot; also, each meal included a choice of soup or salad and my ribs included fries. New server bobbles found my Fiance with a house salad side (she ordered a Caesar Salad {extra $1.99} ) omitting a dressing but quickly fixed as our waitress nervously tried to remember the salad dressing choices, but found a list instead. I opted for a soup of which our waitress wasn't sure of the offerings of the day; yep, she would come back with a list (she really was trying hard and remained friendly all-the-way). The fiances house salad was quite large as a side and consisted of the common Iceberg lettuce with a few thick slices of cucumber and some red onion ringlets added; it was fresh tasting but not out-of-the-ordinary and the lettuce could have been broken apart better as it was mostly clumps of white core leaves. My choice of Cream of Potato Soup was served just barely warm enough with a few packs of saltine style crackers on the side; it was tasty enough with smaller cubed potatoes in a cream of chicken soup base with nothing more added. The Fiances "Healthnut" choice was a very large serving but didn't WOW her at all; in truth, this meal sounded great with its, "sautéed mushrooms, artichokes, fresh spinach in a white wine lemon butter sauce over pasta", but fell far short in taste (very bland) with the overall meal looking like a soggy mess on the plate; the Fiance proclaiming the grilled chicken (extra cost) to be the best part but still only OK tasting. My 'Metro Cafe Diner" ribs where a Baby Back cut that was meaty enough and very tender (they easily fell-off-the-bone). These ribs where too much of a flavor eruption/disruption at first bite but they grew on me as I consumed more bones! The ribs have a unique dry rub that is honestly more lemon peppery flavored under a heavy coating of a really too sweet tomato based sauce that had a deep vinegar tasting finish. Truthfully, with all the ribs I have eaten, I have never come across such a diverse and overpowering flavor combination for ribs, and yet I found my pallet quickly overcoming the first bite shock and cleaning the bones dry; never would have thought I would LIKE this flavor combination, but I do. My side of fries where BLAH tasting, hardly warm, and of the "coated" variety. I should have sent them back for a fresher batch! Overall, the Fiance and mine's dining experience at the Metro rates a solid 2.75; it wasn't a total loss (thank God) like some other Yelp reviewers have experienced but I would highly hesitate to rate this place as a five star establishment as we found our food choices to be mostly spotty in taste and overall quality. Not sure I would return to try more menu items, but Big Kudos to our server who remained polite and friendly despite her obvious newness and bobbles, as well as to the cleanliness of the establishment (it was pretty well kept). Of special note: the menu items are priced higher online (when I checked them out) than in the restaurant (saved us a few bucks) but I wouldn't count on consistent pricing in this fluctuating economy.

I love this place. the staff is always friendly and the food is awesome. The food comes out to you very quickly. I found myself going here very frequently with my wife after my first visit. the price is very reasonable. This place reminds me of an old school genuine diner with a modern twist and theme. open 24hrs all year long, I support what they are doing here. Hope this helps :)

The food was awful. Ordered nachos which were supposed to have tomato chunks, jalapenos, olives but it was just a pile of chips with cheese on it. We also ordered the chili which was horrible. The waitress rolled her eyes at a neighboring table because the toddlers were goofing around. She also noticed we didn't eat much and asked us if we wanted it to go and I said I didn't want to take it home because I didn't like it and she just ignored the comment.... it was weird. My husband and I are the most unpicky eaters.... we like everything so I can tell you that I am not exaggerating. I was very disappointed to say the least. I would never go back.
